The flagship Pixelverse game has launched in closed beta as a web game, signaling a new lease of life for the Telegram and TON ecosystem. This marks the first time TON microtransactions have been used outside of Telegram.
In a statement on Thursday, Pixel Universea cyberpunk-themed gaming ecosystem available on Telegram, has announced that its flagship MMORPG game PixelTap will finally be available on the web browser. After spending nearly a year operating exclusively on Telegram’s TON blockchain, the move marks a significant step forward for TON-based games, connecting the Pixelverse’s vast Telegram community to a new and expanded web3 gaming experience.
Nonetheless, the launch of the closed beta of the Pixelverse web browser game marks the first time that TON’s microtransactions have been used outside of the Telegram messaging app. It is expected that this will connect over 10 million monthly active users to the new browser game, providing them with a simple, exciting and seamless experience in the Web 3 ecosystem.
Pixelverse CEO Kirill Volgin believes that the move away from Telegram will allow the game to attract a larger user base, allowing the game to be organically accepted by new audiences outside of the platform.
“In recent months, many Telegram Mini Games users have discovered cryptocurrencies through these mini-apps, and now we are ready to provide them with a richer and more complex gaming experience outside of the mobile ecosystem,” Volgin added.
The rise of PixelTap Telegram-based games
Since its launch, PixelTap has grown to become one of the most used platforms in the TON ecosystem and the most popular mini-game on Telegram Messenger. In August, Pixelverse launched the largest Avatar (PFP) NFT collection on TON, attracting more than 234,000 investors, and then successfully launched the Bots NFT collection, attracting more than 40,000 investors, and the popularity of the game soared.
In addition to their success in the digital collectibles space, PixelTap NFTs provide users/holders with additional utility and benefits across the entire Pixelverse ecosystem. These benefits include profit sharing mechanisms for ecosystem revenue, access to exclusive quests, chances to earn rare items, character customization options, early access to future content such as higher-level characters, and tier rewards that provide tangible and monetary value as the ecosystem grows.
Finally, the game also builds anti-cheat, exciting, and real-time game combat to ensure that players remain entertained while collecting NFTs.
PixelTap web browser immersive gaming experience
The new browser game will reportedly allow users to participate in battles and quests to earn rewards. These rewards can be used to upgrade their robots, participate in PvP battles, and enhance their characters.
The game will allow players to wake up in a cryostat 800 years in the future and find themselves in Neopolis City, where danger and opportunity coexist. Players can then use their own characters to explore the vast cyberpunk environment, complete quests, collect rare items, recover memory chips, accumulate wealth and gain influence in the open economy of Neopolis City.
The developers have created a hyper-realistic environment and gameplay where player actions and decisions can shape the game’s economy and environment, reflecting the true spirit of web3 through immersive gaming.
Volgin further added: “Our next step is to deepen web3 integration and move beyond hyper-casual games to provide a more immersive experience.”
Currently, the closed beta version of the game is open to early supporters. Players will have the opportunity to experience the gameplay, explore the game world and provide valuable feedback. According to the roadmap, the open version of the game will be released later next quarter.
