Technavio finds in a new report that the online sports coaching market is poised to grow despite competition

Athlete engagement and artificial intelligence will drive global online sports coaching platform market size to grow by $1.24 billion from 2024 to 2028, according to a new report from Technavio.

While increasing internet access (67.1% of the global population) is undoubtedly driving the online sports coaching market, the integration of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics for advanced performance monitoring and personalized training plans is also is driving the growth of the online sports coaching market. This is also a key factor in the booming field of online tutoring.

This growth will continue to be driven by projected growth in internet users in just a few years (to a staggering 7.5 billion by 2030), according to Technavio. However, challenges exist — as Technavio points out, in-person tutoring, free online content, self-guided training, and even wearable fitness devices are all competing in the online tutoring market.

Nonetheless, with the online sports coaching market growing rapidly, digital tools, gamification and advanced analytics can unlock valuable insights that can improve performance. Athletes may find it convenient to participate in virtual coaching sessions and video analysis to optimize their training.

While the fitness industry has always prided itself on being a people-centered service industry, leveraging artificial intelligence can enhance training services while still retaining the personalized approach that consumers have come to expect.

“Adopting artificial intelligence is critical to keeping fitness coaches competitive,” said Candace Dickson, Chief Marketing Officer, CoachRx & OpEx Fitness. “Coaches leveraging AI can deliver more sophisticated, data-driven services. They can handle larger client loads without sacrificing quality and provide insights and personalization that would be difficult to achieve manually. As clients become more Tech-savvy, they increasingly expect AI-enhanced coaching to provide 24/7 support and data-driven insights.”
